Well, what a year it has been!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Let’s Go!, like so many others, has had to shift the way that we do our work in order to continue to support the children and adults that are served by our programs. It has been a year of challenge and creativity. This annual update provides a picture of the work that was accomplished pre COVID-19, the adaptations we have made and how things are working out.

In order to support our sites in the Early Care and Education, Out-of-School, School, and School Nutrition settings, we continue to engage new and returning sites virtually or in person, complying with all public health guidelines. We are distributing resources to support three focus areas: safe physical activity, staff wellness, and healthy habits at home. Additionally, we have expanded our virtual and web-based professional development opportunities for enrolled sites and Let’s Go! Coordinators.

For our healthcare sites, we are continuing to offer virtual trainings. The national conference on the connection between obesity and cancer that we held this fall was a huge success. And, through a subcommittee of the statewide Clinical Advisory Committee, we drafted new Healthcare Recommendations for Childhood Obesity to guide and support primary care providers in the implementation of high quality care for children to prevent, assess, manage and treat obesity.

I want to thank our many partners – statewide programs and individuals – who are working in our communities. You guide us, help us implement healthy eating and active living strategies, and continue to adapt during this difficult time. Let’s Go! is stronger because of this amazing network.

I hope you enjoy reading this update. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments or just want to chat about our work. I’m always happy to jump on a Zoom call!
